Savannah, GA
---May 2018---
I've always heard that Savannah, Georgia is a 'must visit' location. I've been told the trees, buildings, and sights are beautiful. However, this is an understatement! Savannah is a refreshing break from reality. Here, I wake up everyday grateful to be alive. The weather, the people, the flowers, everything. This New York girl feels so lucky that I was able to make the trip down to celebrate the marriage of a beautiful couple.A few places I've been that I recommend checking out if you visit Savannah:
- Savannah Coffee Roasters
- We came here everyday to grab some coffee and an occasional sweet treat. I've gotten iced coffee everyday, plus a cinnamon roll (so good!!!). I highly recommend checking it out if you are a coffee addict like me. It's so cute in here too.. added bonus!
- Forsyth Park
- This park is absolutely STUNNING! If you do anything on this list, make it this one. Bring your cameras because you're going to want to take pictures (even though they won't do it justice!) The wedding we came down for was in this park and couldn't have been more perfect.
- Wet Willies
- If you're looking for a fun bar with delicious and unique drinks...this is the place for you! We went to the Wet Willies by the river and had so much fun. Everyone was able to pick out their own slushie-esque drinks and LOVED them. I got a mixture of Pina Colada and Sex on the Beach. Someone else really enjoyed Call A Cab. Be careful though, they're potent!
- Tybee Island
- The bride wanted some seashells for her wedding deco, so we headed to Tybee Island for a few hours. If you want to soak up some sun on a beautiful beach, head on down. One piece of advice (that I didn't follow...) wear some sunscreen! I ended up having bubbled shoulders for the wedding, ouch. The pier is awesome, great slushy drinks and snacks if you get hungry or thirsty!
A few other things we did include getting pasta and sauce from Frali to cook and enjoy at our rental house (yum), tour the Savannah history museum, ate Panera (duh), took pictures around the town, wedding reception at Vic's on the River, checked out some different bars/pubs, and soaked up some sun.
Honestly, whatever you end up doing while visiting this cute little town, I'm positive you'll fall in love. It's also an extremely pet friendly city, so feel free to bring your furry friends along too. Most all of the restaurants and bars have water bowls and/or treats out. As you walk around, you'll see trollies, horse and carriages, pedal cabs, and the most beautiful buildings. I encourage you to walk around and visit all of the parks, walk the river and bar hop, mingle with the locals, and stop and think about how beautiful this life is (step away from the craziness of the world around us).
